About Shalene
"Singing is Believing"
I'm Shalene Hill, a vocalist and healing practitioner who believes deeply in the transformative power of the human voice. With a B.A. in Voice Performance from Appalachian State University and years of experience across classical, folk, contemporary, and sacred musical styles, I've discovered that singing is far more than performance—it's a pathway to healing, connection, and self-discovery.
My journey into singing for healing grew from my own experience overcoming performance anxiety and vocal blocks. Through personal exploration and study, I learned how our voices can become stuck when we've experienced trauma, and how gentle, intentional vocal work can help us reclaim our authentic expression.
My Background:
Trained vocalist with experience in opera, folk, and sacred music
Former Music Minister and congregational song leader
Creator of Singing Swim School, bringing joy and learning through song
Community healing facilitator, leading song circles for recovery and connection
My Approach: I create safe, nurturing spaces where you can explore your voice without judgment. My sessions weave together breathwork, movement, chakra toning, and vocal expression—all tailored to your unique needs and comfort level. Whether you're working through grief, seeking stress relief, or simply curious about your voice's healing potential, I meet you exactly where you are.
I'm honored to serve alongside other healing practitioners in our Asheville community, each of us bringing our unique gifts to support people's wellness journeys. My work complements the beautiful somatic and therapeutic offerings available here in the mountains.
When I'm not facilitating healing sessions, you might find me leading our donation-based community song circles, swimming with my students, or catching up with my adult daughters.
No singing experience necessary—just bring your authentic self.
